About Cochin Minerals & Rutile Ltd

Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL) was established in the late eighties has a manufacturing plant based in Aluva, Kerala. The company produces synthetic rutile, ferric chloride, offgrade titanium dioxide and ferrous chloride. The company came out with a public issue in 199192 and then followed up with a rights issue in 199394 to support the additional cost associated with delay in implementation. The Government of Kerala has leased a mining area to the company in Neendakar Kayamkulam to make sure its ilmenite (prime raw material) demand is met. The company has successfully acquired the ISO 9002 certification from Bureau Veritas Quality International and has been expanding its capabilities since then. In 1998-99, they had expanded the capacity of synthetic rutile to 18000 metric tonnes and 20000 metric tonnes for the manufacturing of ferrous electrode during 2000-01. The products are mainly exported to Japan and Middle East countries.
