Asahi Songwon Colors Ltd (ASAHISONG)

Asahi Songwon Colors Limited was founded in 1990 in Gujarat as Lucky Laminates Private Ltd. In 1996, the High Court of Gujarat approved a scheme of amalgamation of Asahi Dyechem Pvt Ltd and the company was converted to a public company, subsequently changing its name. Capital expenditure of Rs. 40 million was made to set up a plant manufacturing Pigment Green 7 in Kadi Mehsana and its commercial production began in 1991. In 1995-96, they entered into a joint venture agreement with South Korean Songwon Color Company Limited, with ASCL investing financially and SCCL supplying technology for Green Crude production. A plant for manufacturing Green Crude was installed at a cost of Rs. 35 million, increasing installed capacity from 180 Tonnes/PAA to 600 TPA. They further increased their installed capacity to 900MT and 1080MT in 2002 and 2005-6 respectively, at a cost of Rs. 35 million. In May 2007, they entered the stock market and issued 3722222 Equity Shares with an issue price of Rs.90 per share.
