About Andhra Petrochemicals Ltd

Andhra Petrochemicals, jointly funded by Harish Chandra Prasad of Andhra Sugars and the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation, was set up in 18 April 1984 with a licensed capacity of 30000 tonnes per annum and a cost of Rs 150cr. The project went live in October 1993 with a cost overrun of Rs 45cr, prompting a rights issue in January 1993. In 199495, it was operational for the whole year. It manufactures oxoalcohol which finds use as PVC additives, stabilisers, acrylates, printing inks, paints, surfactants and more. In 1996, it undertook major replacements to enhance production. It also converted a loan of Rs 13cr into equity shares at par rate in March 1996, with Andhra Sugars Ltd. providing Rs 13cr under its financial restructuring plan. Under preferential allotment, 8873720 equity shares at a premium of Rs 4.65 per share were issued in June 1996. During 2000-2001, the installed capacity of oxoalcohols was increased by 6000MT.
