About Alkali Metals Ltd

Alkali Metals Limited was started on April 17 1968 in Hyderabad Andhra Pradesh by Dr. Y.V.S. Murty as Alkali Metals Private Limited. Initially it catered to the manufacture of sodium metal with an installed capacity of 125 MT, however to combat rising power tariffs, the company diversified and delved into sodium derivatives, pyridine derivatives and fine chemicals. The company achieved ISO 14001:2004 and ISO 9001:2000 certifications for its two manufacturing facilities – Unit I and Unit II - with an aggregate production capacity of 4400 MT. Apart from diversifying, Alkali Metals has also acquired Balaji Agro Industries Limited to foray into processing agro based products. In 200708, the company invested 9.50 crores in expanding the production capacity of its 100 EOU. Additionally, the company has plans to set up a production plant in Pharma City, Visakhapatnam with a capital outlay of 42.72 crores.
