About Agio Paper & Industries Ltd

Kanoi Paper Industries (KPIL) was founded by J P Kanoi in 1984 for BDT Business. In 1990, it took over the integrated pulp and paper mill of Brooke Bond India at Bilaspur, Madhya Pradesh and changed its name. As of December 30 2003, it is held 49% equity stake by M L Jalan and Arrow Syntex Pvt Ltd. KPIL uses nonconventional raw materials like rice straw and jute waste for its production of writing, printing and industrial paper, and packaging with an installed capacity of 15500 tpa. In 1994-95, it implemented a modernisation and balancing scheme funded by a rights issue. This included replacing the existing boiler with a fluidised bed boiler, expanding the pulping capacity, installing a kuster calendar and rebuilding the paper machine. It is currently focussing to enter into the production of superior grade printing, writing paper, MG poster and computer stationery. Production was suspended in the Bilaspur plant due to labour unrest, however, it resumed on May 2nd 2003.
