Indian billionaire businessman Gautam Adani has again made headlines as the representative of his group companies reportedly met with officials from the Trump administration.
Following the speculation around the dismissal of the US bribery charges, the stocks surged significantly, led by Adani Total Gas, Adani Power, and Adani Green Energy.
What are the charges against Adani Group in the US?
For context, the charges were filed in November 2024 by US authorities, accusing Gautam Adani, his nephew Sagar Adani, and others of bribing Indian officials and misleading US investors on compliance in a $750 million Adani Green bond sale.
Since then, the stocks of the Group, including Adani Green Energy, Adani Power, Adani Enterprises, and Adani Total Gas, are down 45%, 27%, 26%, and 19.8%, respectively.
In April, the officials of Adani Green said that their independent review of the US indictment did not find any irregularities. The company appointed an independent law firm in January to review the matter.
Why are Adani Group companies’ shares rising?
Gautam Adani’s representative of his group companies reportedly met with the Trump administration, seeking dismissal of criminal charges levied against him related to an alleged around $250 million bribery scheme. As per the reports, the discussion started earlier this year and could lead to a resolution.

Summary
Adani Group companies are again in the news after reports that their representatives met with the Trump administration to seek the dismissal of the US bribery charges. The charges, filed in November 2024, allege that Gautam Adani, his nephew Sagar Adani, and others bribed Indian officials and misled the US investors during a $750 million bond sale. The news of the potential dismissal of the case led to a rebound for Adani stocks, with shares like Adani Total Gas, Adani Power, and Adani Green Energy rising between 7% and 12% on April 5, 2025. If the US government dismisses the charges, this can restore the trust of investors, along with stabilizing the business operations. For the broader market, it can also potentially boost the overall market sentiment as Adani Group is one of the largest conglomerates in India.
