Indian market holidays 2022
Share

Stock market in India comprises two stock exchanges namely, National Stock Exchange (NSE), and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The Bombay Stock Exchange or BSE is the oldest stock exchange in Asia and the 10th oldest in the world. Although BSE is the oldest, NSE was the first exchange in India to provide a fully electronic and modern trading system to facilitate easy trading in the country.

NSE

National Stock Exchange or NSE was established in 1992 as the first decentralized electronic exchange platform in India. Its first index Nifty 50 was launched in 1996 listing the top 50 companies of India. Besides Nifty 50, the other major indices of NSE include Nifty Next 50, Nifty 100, Nifty Pharma, Nifty Metal, Nifty Auto, etc., representing companies from different sectors of the economy.

BSE

The first equity index introduced in BSE was SENSEX, which included the top 30 trading companies from more than 10 sectors across India. Apart from BSE, the exchange also lists a number of other major indices as well such as BSE 100, BSE 200, BSE 500, representing the top 100, 200, and 500 companies of India. Other indices include BSE Midcap, BSE Smallcap, BSE Auto, BSE Metal, etc.

Share Market Holidays 2022

Both NSE and BSE offer trading in several instruments such as equities, equity derivatives, debt, interest rate futures, and more. When it comes to stock market holidays and market trading timings, there is apparently no difference between how both the stock exchanges operate. The market holidays 2022 have been announced by NSE and BSE for the segments. The stock market holidays 2022 include all the holidays on which the exchanges will remain closed. As per the circulars issued by NSE and BSE, there are a total of 14 holidays except Saturdays and Sundays.
