Intel develops processors, computing platforms and semiconductor manufacturing technology. Its products power personal computers, servers and other electronic systems, while its manufacturing operations produce chips and provide foundry capabilities.
Intel Products includes its Client Computing and Physical AI Group, formerly Client Computing Group, and Data Center and AI businesses. Intel Foundry covers manufacturing and related services. This structure combines the design and sale of Intel-branded products with a business that can manufacture semiconductors for external customers.
How Does Intel Make Money?
Intel makes money primarily by selling processors and related computing products, alongside external foundry and other technology services. Internal transactions between Intel businesses are eliminated when calculating consolidated company revenue.

Intel's product groups may be charged for manufacturing work performed by Intel Foundry. That helps management assess the economics of each business, but the same transaction cannot be counted as revenue from an outside customer for the consolidated group. External product and service sales are what bring customer revenue into Intel overall.
Where repeat business comes from
Computer manufacturers reorder processors as they build systems, and server customers purchase products as they expand or replace infrastructure. Foundry customers may place production orders after development and qualification. Selection for a design creates a commercial opportunity, while actual deliveries and completed services determine earned revenue.
