Different Types of APLI Plans

APLI offers a variety of plans to cater to the needs and preferences of policyholders. These include:

  • Whole Life Assurance (Suraksha): This plan offers protection and guarantees survivor benefits for the beneficiary until the insured's death. The sum with the bonuses is settled to the nominee or legal heir on the death of the policyholder. Benefits accumulate and can be obtained upon reaching the age of 80, whichever happens first.
  • Convertible Whole Life Assurance (Suvidha): This plan is an alternative to a traditional endowment assurance plan that allows the policyholder to convert the plan to an endowment assurance after five years of the term. This policy can be converted without an examination or an increase in premiums. Endowment and bonus are paid for at maturity or to the insured beneficiary in the event of death.
  • Endowment Assurance (Santosh): This program combines a savings scheme and life insurance for a specified period. The sum assured, along with extra benefits to the policyholder, shall be paid to him at the time of maturity of the policy or to the nominee or legal heir if the policyholder passes away before maturity. The premium should be on a single premium basis until whichever occurs first, either the policyholder's death or the duration of the policy.
  • Joint Life Assurance (Yugal Suraksha): This plan covers the policyholder and their spouse under a policy. If one of them passes away, the surviving spouse receives the insurance amount and bonus, while in case of both spouse's demise, it goes to the nominee or legal heir. The premium is paid until one of the spouses dies or until the policyholder reaches 45 years old.
  • Anticipated Endowment Assurance (Sumangal): This plan offers life coverage with periodical returns. It refunds a portion of the insurance amount at regular intervals during that period. The remaining insurance sum and any bonuses are given to the policyholder upon maturity or to their nominee if they pass away before maturity. The premium must be paid for either the policy term or until death, depending on which comes first.
  • Children Policy (Bal Jeevan Bima): This specialised plan offers coverage for the life of the policyholder's child. Upon maturity or in case of the child's demise before reaching maturity, the sum assured and any bonuses are disbursed either to the child or to the policyholder. The policyholder is required to pay premiums until the child reaches 21 years of age or until their demise, whichever occurs first.
