Company Information

Rivian Automotive, Inc. is an American EV automaker with automotive technology, established in 2009 by Robert “RJ” Scaringe. The company is headquartered in Irvine, California. The manufacturing unit is located in the city of Normal, in Illinois, with other facilities in Carson and Palo Alto in California; Vancouver in British Columbia; Plymouth in Michigan; Woking in England as well as Wittmann in Arizona. Rivian manufactures an electric SUV (sports utility vehicle) and a pick-up truck with a “skateboard platform”. These vehicles are built to be driven both on-road and off-road. The truck, in testing, was able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph smoothly, i.e. 0 – 97 km/h in less than 3 seconds and wade through water up to 3.7 ft, and mount an inclination of 45 degrees. There are motors affixed near the four wheels individually, facilitating independent control. It is said to be designing automobiles to enable carsharing by leveraging their independent features. In partnership with Amazon, an electric van for delivery is being developed. The company has planned an exclusive charging network in the US and Canada by 2023. Rivian started delivering their R1S SUV model in December 2021, for which they reportedly had 71,000 pre-orders. Currently Rivian Automotive, Inc. has a market cap of $14.1 Billion. It has a P.E ratio of -2.43. The shares of Rivian Automotive, Inc. are trading at $10.04. .
