About Western Ministil Ltd

Western Ministil Ltd. is a steel company in operations since 1973. The company was promoted by Western Rolling Mills Private Ltd and received technical assistance for steel production from Mukand Iron Steel Works Ltd. The company seen a remarkable growth in production and sales in 1983 to 43044 tonnes and Rs. 16.05 crore respectively with a commensurate increase in profits. In 1986, production improved to 59681 tonnes and turnover to Rs. 28.17 crores. The company went through a process of modernisation, with the first phase of modernisation completed in 1989. Chudiwala Steels Ltd. became a subsidiary of the company in 1987 and was renamed East Coast Steel Ltd. In May-June 1992, the company issued 71916515 fully convertible debentures of Rs. 55 each at par to the shareholders on rights basis with additional 107721 debentures allotted to retain oversubscription. The entire face value of Rs. 55 of each debenture was to be converted into one equity share of Rs. 10 each, with a premium of Rs. 45 per share, 6 months after issuance of the debentures.
