About Walchand Peoplefirst Ltd

Walchand Hindustan Limited (WHL) was incorporated in 1920 by the Walchand Hirachand Group. WHL specializes in construction contracts and leasing, formerly known as Premier Construction. In 1994, WHL was rebranded to its current name, and Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) increased its share in the company up to 51%. WHL operates two subsidiaries, HCC and Vikhroli Metal Fabricators, and more recently, they have moved their focus from fund based to fee based activities.
In the light of changes in the financial industry, WHL has revisited its business strategy and become a full-fledged Investment Banker, offering services such as risk assessment, corporate restructuring, advice on mergers, acquisitions and privatization. The company was also granted registration as a Category I Merchant Banker by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
In 1999, WHL entered into a Scheme of Arrangement with Hincon Holdings Pvt Ltd., IHP Finvest Pvt Ltd. and Carina Finvest Pvt. Ltd., resulting in a reduction of the net worth of Rs.498.26 lacs. The company is taking the initiative to diversify and explore new areas from the perspective of its financial service industry. With a solid foundation in construction and a diversified financial services arm, WHL is well on its journey to becoming one of the leading players in the financial services industry.
