Vardhman Spinning General Mills (VSGML) was established in 1962 and went into production in 1965. It is part of the Vardhman group, which consists of other companies such as Mahavir Spinning Mills and Vardhman Polytex. In 1992, a rights issue worth Rs 47.82 crore was launched to expand and meet long-term capital requirements of Rs 58 crore. VSGML's product portfolio encompasses cotton/worsted blended yarn, cotton yarn, and fabric which are exported to various countries such as the US, UK, Germany, Indonesia, Japan, Hong Kong, Spain, and African nations. In March 1995 the company sold their Steel unit at Faridabad to Mahavir Spinning Mills, and in 1991 the company became an Export House. They also received the ISO 9002 certification for their textile mill. In December 1999 the Auro Textiles Fabric Process House was opened in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, in technical collaboration with Tokai Senko from Japan. The Ludhiana Industrial Focal Point 100 EOU Spinning unit was partially commissioned in 2002, with the capacity to manufacture 4 tons of tyre cord yarn. In 200405 the textile business was demerged between Vardhman Spinning and General Mills Ltd and Mahavir Spinning Mills Ltd, which resulted in 8 Mahavir Spinning Mils Ltd shares, and 2 VSGML shares per 10 VSGML shares. The company is also enhancing their yarn manufacturing facility, as well as increasing the capacity of Auro Weaving Mills with 58 new looms, and the dying unit was modernised and increased to 9 tons per day.
