About Sukhjit Starch & Chemicals Ltd

Established in 1943, Sukhjit Starch & Chemicals Limited (SSCL) offers a range of edible maize starch, used in ice cream, custard powder, confectionery and other products. Founded by BK Sardana et al, it has continually expanded its operations, growing from an initial capacity of 5 tons per day (tpd) in 1943 to 35 tpd by 1960. Over the years, they have installed additional production facilities, including a liquid glucose plant in 1967, dextrose monohydrate facility in 1982 and latest sorbitol project in 1995, financed through a 1:2 rights issue with a premium of Rs 60 per share. To meet the rising demand, the company recently set up its third unit in Malda, West Bengal, which started operation on 5th June 2003, financed by Punjab National Bank. SSCL thus has a combined installed capacity of 100 tpd and is well-placed to serve the food, textile and paper industries with maize starch, dextrine, liquid glucose, and dextrose monohydrate glucose.
