About Refnol Resins & Chemicals Ltd

Refnol Resins and Chemicals was incorporated in 1980 and is part of the well-known Mahendra Khatau group of companies. Initially it produced rerefined waste lubricating oils but diversified in 1987 to produce textile sizing chemicals in collaboration with Seydel International, USA. The company further diversified in 1989 by manufacturing polyester resins for use in fiberglass composites and cultured marble. In 1995 the company made a public issued and used the proceeds to expand its textile sizing chemicals from 1,800 tons per annum to 3,000 tons yearly. Unfortunately, due to the erosion of the company's net worth, the Board declared it as 'sick' and referred it to BIFR (Board for Financial and Industrial Reconstruction).
