About Prima Industries Ltd

Prima Industries was incorporated in 1994 as a public limited company and is promoted by Sanjay Gupta and Prima Agro Products. The company issued an IPO in 1995 to partly finance a project in Kanjikode Palghat district, Kerala. The project included a solvent extraction plant with a capacity of 300 tpd and an edible oil refining plant with a capacity of 30 tpd. The first phase of the project, the solvent extraction plant, began commercial production in 1996. The second phase of the edible oil refinery is nearly completed. Prima Industries has also started processing Rice Bran, as well as local and other raw materials, and has entered into a supply agreement with Hindustan Lever Limited. As part of a test marketing plan in 1999-2000, Prima Industries launched consumer pack oils as Prima Brand, which has received a good response from the market.
