About Mukand Ltd

Mukand Limited, incorporated in Mumbai in 1937, is a multi-divisional company with steel manufacturing, industrial machinery manufacturing and highway construction divisions. They produce hundreds of grades of steel long products in form of wire rods, bars, wires and bright bars. The Research & Development division was initiated in 1984, and a pilot plant was set up in 1987 for production of stainless steel components. In 1989, Mukand Dravo Wellman Pvt Ltd became a subsidiary. In 1991, the company received an order from SAIL for Oxygen furnace equipment and in 1995 they set up Rolling Mill division and commissioned solution annealing furnace. In 2005, the company was awarded the Total Productive Maintenance Excellence Award by Japan Institute of Plant Maintenance. In 2007, Mukand formed a joint venture with NV Bekaert SA Belgium for producing stainless steel wires, and in 2008 with Vini Iron & Steel Udyog for captive mining of coal block. The company plans to set up a stainless steel wire manufacturing facility in Nashik with a total investment of Rs 3 billion.
