About MSTC Ltd

MSTC Ltd, a Government of India company, has been engaged in domestic and international trading activity for more than three decades. It is designated as the canalising agency for importing Carbon Steel Melting Scrap, Sponge Iron/Hot Briquetted Iron, Rerollable Scrap, and old ships for breaking in India. Additionally, MSTC trades in items like steel, coal, coke, SKO Nonferro and ferroalloy items. It also provides disposal services for integrated steel plants and IF/EAF units. In 2001, as part of diversification, MSTC entered the marketing of finished steel and Pig Iron in domestic markets. To further simplify trade activities, the company launched an e-auction portal in 2002, which allows buyers and sellers to manage business through electronic mode. Consequently, in 2002 MSTC Ltd. came out with an Initial Public Offering (IPO) of 17,670,400 equity shares of Rs 10 each for Rs 211.04 crores. The IPO was priced at Rs 120 per equity share.
