About I G Petrochemicals Ltd

I G Petrochemicals (IGPL) is a company that was set up in 1988 by Mysore Petrochemicals, in partnership with Lurgi Germany. Led by S S Dhanuka as the Chairman, it raised Rs. 10.61 crores in 1991 by issuing 1.06 crore equity shares of par value at Rs. 10.61 crore, to help finance the construction of a 100 EOU manufacturing plant for Phthalic Anhydride at Taloja, Maharashtra. This is one of India's largest plants for Phthalic Anhydride and is on par with 35,000 TPA plants in the international market. It is mainly used for plasticizers, PVC cables, leather cloth, PVC footwear, alkyd resins, paint industry, varieties of dyes and pigments. The plant was successfully expanded from 45,000 MTPA to 60,000TPA and also an additional 45,000TPA plant was installed. The company was awarded the ISO 9002 Certificate in 1999-2000, however due to a global fall in Pthalic Anhydride prices, the company incurred a heavy loss and has become a Sick unit.
