About Dhanlaxmi Bank Ltd

Dhanalakshmi Bank was founded in 1927 by as group of enterprising entrepreneurs in Thrissur, the cultural capital of Kerala, with an initial capital of Rs. 11000. Today, it has grown into a commercial bank with 181 branches and 26 Extension Counters across India, with operations and business of Rs. 4223 crores. It has a Capital Adequacy Ratio of 9.75%, greater than the mandatory requirement of 9 and a net profit of Rs. 9.51 crores for the year ended 31st March 2006. It started its services in Thrissur, followed by Ernakulam and Palghat in 1937, extending to the entire South India in 1978. In 1990s, it extended its services outside of South India, as well, beginning with Bombay. Apart from banking, it also offers bill discounting, letters of credit, merchant banking etc. DBL also focuses on consumer banking, corporate banking, and expanding its services to NRIs. In 1996, it released an equity issue of 80 lac shares for Rs. 40 crores to strengthen the capital base and obtain listing on stock exchanges. To comply with RBI guidelines, it also released a Right Issue of Rs. 274750500 to increase the net worth to Rs. 100 crores. The Bank also provides Anywhere/Anytime banking to its customers using technology, is part of CASHNET and National Financial Switch ATM network. It are also provides Life and Non-Life insurances and Demat services. Additionally, it has dedicated NRI Boutiques and tied up with 7 Exchange Houses in the Middle East. It has also achieved industrial and corporate certifications under ISO 90012000. With its emphasis on providing value-added services, its focus on poverty alleviation, and its commitment to its customers, Dhanalakshmi Bank has achieved a great degree of success since its inception.
