About Automobile Corporation Of Goa Ltd

The Economic Development Corporation (EDC) and TELCO, an Automobile Corporation of Goa (ACGL) promotes ACGL as a major supplier of pressed parts and bus bodies to TELCO. Demand increased in 1988 and the company saw a net profit of just over Rs. 1 cr. Following that, ACGL added new components to different models of Tata vehicles and improved the value of its products. With increasing production over the next five years, ACGL is getting ready to meet the larger demand. Tata vehicles will also use Cummins engines, thus increasing export potential. Recently, Tata Exports bought 21 % of the equity stake from EDC and together with TELCOs 10%, the Tata group companies now hold 31 % of the equity stake in the company. The company plans to introduce a monocoque bus project which will be commissioned over the next two years. They have also received government approval for a technical collaboration with Neway Anchorlok International in India to manufacture their brand of Air Suspension Systems and entered an MoU with Piaggio Greaves Vehicles Ltd to make and supply modern range of three wheeler delivery vehicle. With all the changes and improved prospects, ACGL is growing fast and is headed towards better capacity utilisation.
