Walmart is a multinational retail corporation based in the United States of America. It is a chain of hypermarkets, grocery stores, and departmental stores headquartered in Arkansas, USA. The company was established by Sam Walton and was incorporated under Delaware General Corporation Law in 1969. As of 2021, the company has more than 10,524 stores and clubs in around 24 countries worldwide. 
 
The company has various names as per the different countries. For example, in India, the company operates under the name of Flipkart Wholesale. In Mexico, the name is Walmart de México y Centroamérica, Walmart in Canada and USA, etc. The company had also held a stake in Walmart Brazil since 2018 and was renamed Grupo Big in 2019.  
 
As per the Fortune Global 500, the revenue of the company is US$ 548.743 billion. The company is considered the world’s largest company based on revenue. It also is the largest employer worldwide with more than 2.2 million employees. The company is a family-owned business controlled by the Walton family. The family holds more than 50% shares of Walton Enterprises. Walmart is the largest and the most profitable grocery retailer in the USA. 
 
The company is listed on both NASDAQ and the New York Stock Exchange. The home market sales accounted for 78% in 2021, with Central America at 6% and Canada at 4%, the most prominent external markets. In the United States of America, the sales of the company come from grocery (56%), general Merchandise (32%), and health and wellness (10%). The company also has other various e-commerce properties, including shoes.com and Flipkart. It has approx—10% stake in JD.com (Chinese online retailer). Combined, the e-commerce part of the company accounted for roughly 12% as per the 2021 sales.
