About Wendt India Ltd

Wendt India, established in 1983 with financial and technical collaboration from Wendt Germany, faced losses right from its inception. In 1990, Carborundum Universal (part of the Murugappa group) stepped in to take over the company with a 40% stake from the collaborators. Wendt India specializes in the manufacture of premium grinding wheels made from diamonds and cubic boron nitrite. In March 1995, the company commissioned a wind electric generator of 225 kW in Perungudi, Tamil Nadu, and launched a new Edgestar range of diamond sharpeners. Their products for the granito tile industry have gained acceptance in India and they are now actively pursuing exports to West Asia and Malaysia. In 2001-02, Wendtsoft expanded their software division by marketing Central Excise Management CENTRAC.
