About Shukra Jewellery Ltd

Shukra Diamond Exports was founded in 1991. Headed by Chandrakant Shah, the company came out with an IPO of 35,14,000 secured FCDs worth Rs 21 crore in 1994. The funds were acquired to set up a 100 export oriented unit for the manufacturing of diamonds, setting up offices in New York, Antwerp and Hong Kong, and augmenting long-term working capital requirements. By 1995, Shukra had achieved a revenue of Rs 14.03 crore through exports to countries such as the US, Japan, Belgium, Switzerland, Hongkong, Thailand and Singapore. In 1996, a new jewellery-making unit was set up in Daman in partnership with Gene Hughes US. Imported machinery from Germany and Italy was used in the production process, and the brand ‘Shukra’ was used to market the diamond-studded gold jewellery. The company was recently awarded the Best Stall at the India International Jewellery Show 96 by the Gem Jewellery Export Promotion Council.
