About Rama Petrochemicals Ltd

Rama Petrochemicals RPCL, flagship of the Rama group, was established in 1985 in collaboration with Lurgi Germany to operate a 60000tpa methanol project in Patalganga Maharashtra. In 1993, the company diversified into the construction industry, and is currently in the midst of building a commercial complex in CBD Belapur. RPCL has been collaborating with various organisations including Bombay Dyeing and Cibatul India, and also founded Rama Capital and Fiscal Services as registrars and transfer agents. During 199596, Rama Fertilizers Pvt Ltd was merged with RPCL and began work on a gelatine project of 1750 tpa at Lalru Patiala district Punjab with TMCI UK and a denim project of 10 mln mtrs. pa. at Jakhwada Viramgaon district Gujarat. An arrangement for the hiving off of the denim division was approved by the High Courts. Subsequent losses led to the closure of the methanol plant, and a resultant eroding of the company’s net worth making it a sick industrial company under the 1985 SICA, for which the BIFR has granted final approval for the merger of Rama Fertilizers Pvt Ltd with the company.
