About Punjab Communications Ltd

Punjab Communications PCL was formed in 1981 with the purpose of manufacturing directtoline multiplexing equipments. It then diversified into the production of pulse code modulated multiplexers trans multiplexers voice frequency telegraphs rural automatic exchanges digital VHF radios, etc. Major users are the Department of Telecommunications, Railways, Defence, State Police Organisations, ONGC and VSNL. PCL has tied up with ECI Telecom in Israel for SDH range of products and Reliance Tech Com in US for a joint venture to focus on the production of Line Transmission equipments with 2 Mb/s Primary Multiplexer, Higher Order Multiplexer, Optical Line Terminating Equipments and Power Line Carrier Communications DTL FDM Radio equipments. It has also made a joint bid with a Chinese company to supply CDMA equipments to BSNL which is under evaluation. Moreover, its major client Railtel has planned to create 37,000 KM OFC cable in India where 7900 Kms were already commissioned, 4700 Kms was laid and more than 11,500 Kms is in progress with future plans to create remaining 13000 Kms.
