About Procter & Gamble Health Ltd

Procter and Gamble Health Limited, formerly Merck Limited, is a 51% subsidiary of German firm Merck KGaA and is based in India. It is engaged in the manufacturing and marketing of pharmaceuticals, chemicals, biotechnology products, and consumer health products. The company operates in two divisions: Pharmaceuticals and Chemicals. Pharmaceuticals include Ethicals for treatment of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, Vitamin-based Formulations, and Consumer Healthcare products. Chemicals division consists of Bulk Drugs and Pigments. It was incorporated in 1967 as E Merck India Ltd and changed its name to Merck Ltd in 2002. In 2018, Merck Life Science Private Limited acquired the Biopharma Performance Materials and Life Science Segments of Merck Ltd for Rs 1,05,200 lakhs. This shifted the company's main focus to manufacturing and marketing pharmaceuticals. The company has expanded its production capacity of Bulk Drugs by 18 tonnes to 479 tonnes, Injection/Nasal Drops by 24 kiloliters to 440 kiloliters, and Tablets/Capsules by 40 million Nos to 400 million Nos. It has launched various products such as Pedimune, Glimepiride, Acrobat and Ziflam, Livogen CZ, Polybion Complete Syrup, Met Neurobion Injection, Evion Forte, Olmighty and Whisper Choice Aloe Vera Tablets, Neurobion Forte, and Livogen Iron and Multivitamin Tonic etc. However, its growth has been affected by the ban on 344 fixed drug combinations, demand notice from National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority and writ petition filed by Credence Pharmaceuticals Private Limited. The company has challenged the ban and demands and hopes for a positive outcome.
