About Precot Ltd

N Damodaran Precot Mills PML was founded in 1962 in Palakad, Kerala, with an installed capacity of 12096 spindles to produce cotton yarn. The company underwent name change in 1985, and expanded further with the opening of their second mill in Kodigenahalli of Andhra Pradesh, which had 28800 spindles which was increased to 51840 spindles in 1991. The company set up a 100 EOU in Walayar in 1996 and an open-end spinning unit with capacity of 1152 rotors. Further, it merged with Coimbatore General Finance in 1997. In the year 2001, a new yarn dyeing unit with capacity of 2 tonnes/day was commenced in Gauribindur, Karnataka and a weaving unit at Vettaikaranpurdur near Pollachi was also setup. Following this, the company made a buyback of 5.5 lakh equity shares from 2002-2003, resulting in an equity capital of Rs.545 lacs. To reduce energy cost, the company installed 4 wind turbines in 2002 at a cost of Rs.1165 lacs and also made a capital expenditure of Rs 3505 lacs which was financed by a Term Loan from ICICI Bank.
