About Pondy Oxides & Chemicals Ltd

Pondy Oxides and Chemicals (POCL) was promoted by R D Bansal Devekar Bansal and their associates in 1992 as a partnership firm. The firm started trading zinc and lead suboxide in Jul.93, and went on to set up a manufacturing facility for zinc oxide in Pondicherry in 1995. To expand their production capacity, POCL entered the capital market with a public issue of 1705700 shares in Jan.96. In Jan.98, POCL entered a joint venture agreement with M/s. Katril Oxides M Sdn Bhd, wherein POCL exported and supplied machinery and know-how for a 30% share capital participation. In the same year, POCL's subsidiary M/s. Baschem Pharma Limited started a new unit in Maraimalai Nagar to manufacture Liquid Stabilisers Epoxy Oil and Metallic Octoates. As a result of stiff competition, POCL shifted their focus to products with marketable advantage and are now planning for further product expansion.
