About Mawana Sugars Ltd

Mawana Sugars Ltd, formerly known as Shriram Industrial Enterprises Ltd (SIEL), is a diversified company with a presence in ChlorAlkaliCaustic Soda, Sugar, Edible Oils, Stable Bleaching Powder Soap, and consultancy services. It has a green-field project set-up at Rajpura near Patiala in Punjab with an installed capacity of 228 tpd and has spun off the sugar business into a separate subsidiary, namely Siel Sugars Ltd. It has incorporated two more subsidiaries - Shivajimarg Properties Ltd and Siel Holdings Ltd for restructuring purposes. The company also formed a joint venture with Daikin Shriram Airconditioning Pvt Ltd to receive ISO 9001 certification for air conditioning compressors. Further, it collaborated with Plansee Tizit Austria to manufacture tungsten carbide tools, and with Honda Motor Co Japan to start exports. It took over Cawnpore Sugar Works Ltd, a BIFR company and has been awarded an ISO 9002 certificate for its SBP manufacturing operations. Additionally, to establish its overseas presence SIEL created a wholly-owned subsidiary called SIEL Overseas in the UK. After amalgamating the erstwhile Mawana Sugars Limited MSL, the name of the parent company changed to Mawana Sugars Limited and the 62.67% equity stake held by Usha International Limited increased it to a subsidiary of UIL w.e.f. 26.7.2010. During the year 202021, the chemical manufacturing undertaking operating under the name and style of Siel Chemical Complex based in Rajpura, Punjab was transferred to Bodal Chemicals Limited.
