About Lakshmi Engineering & Warehousing Ltd

Lakshmi Automatic Loom Works (LALW) manufactures a range of textile machinery, such as shuttleless weaving machines, knitting machines, and grey and s g iron castings. It entered into a ten-year technical collaboration with Ruti Machinery Works Switzerland in 1974 to manufacture high-speed C type automatic looms, and since then has made a range of commercial products. In 1987-88, it commenced production of air jet weaving machines in collaboration with Sulzer Switzerland, and collaborated with Terrot Stickmaschinen Germany to make high-speed circular knitting machines. In 1995-96, the company installed CNC machines for product improvement. To enhance export markets, the company is planning implementation of ISO 9001 quality system and introduction of Total Quality Management (TQM). During the year 1999-2000, 7 Circular Knitting Machines valued at Rs. 95.335 lakhs were exported. The company has plans to introduce new models of shutless looms and circular knitting machines. Despite the peak networth of the company having decreased by more than 50%, the company has formally filed with Board of Industrial & Financial Reconstruction (BIFR).
