About Gem Spinners India Ltd

Gem Spinners India GSIL was established in October 1990 and is located in the Kancheepuram district of Tamilnadu. Over the years, the company has achieved a global presence and embarked into garment exports in 1995-96. GSIL’s products range from cotton yarn of 20s-100s to knitted fabric, and its Gem brand is regarded as one of the best yarns in the world. To finance its project of setting up a 100 EOU, GSIL went public with its maiden issue in January 1994 with equipment from Germany, Italy, Switzerland and Singapore. However, it was declared sick by the BIFR in 1999 and the face value of its equity shares were reduced to Rs.5. To aid with the infrastructural needs of the company, 3 diesel generators of 1000 KVA are installed.
