About Excel Industries Ltd

Excel Industries Incorporated, part of A C Shroff's Excel Group, has restructured its business into four divisions (Agri Business, Chemicals Business, Environ Biotech Business & Life Sciences Business) and divested its Agri business - ‘Pesticides to Excel Crop Care Ltd’. The global Pesticide major Nufam of Australia is anticipated to pick up a significant stake in the latter. During 2000-2001, Excel Industries successfully commissioned the plant to manufacture special purpose Polymer Additive with 200 tonnes annual capacity and expanded the production capacity of Phosphonates from 5000 to 7000 tonnes yearly at Lote Parshuram Unit. All their units are ISO 9002 certified, with the Bhavnagar unit being the first Indian agrochemical entity to achieve it. The Bhavnagar unit’s Endosulfan Plant was converted in 1995-96, allowing consumption of non-Ozone Depleting solvent. During 2001-02, the Agri-Business division saw an expansion in Organophosphorous Compounds. Waman Industrial Chemicals Ltd (manufacturer of Phosphorous Pentasulphide) got amalgamated with EIL during October 2001. EIL also launched three new formulations under the brand names Celcron, Hexzol & Bipex during the year.
