About DCW Ltd

DCW is an Indian company incorporated in 1939 that manufactures a variety of products, including soda ash, caustic soda, PVC resins, soda bicarbonates, trichloroethylene, and synthetic rutile, among others. The company has also entered into the home products market and produces packaged spices, flour, and iodised salt. They are one of the six major producers of PVC in India and account for nearly 10% of the total market share. In caustic soda, they have a 15% share in South India. In April 1993, Pantape Magnetics amalgamated with the company, and they issued a rights issue and GDR (Global Depository Receipt) in 1994 to install a 30MW power plant and expand PVC production from 42,000 tpa (tonnes per annum) to 60,000 tpa. In 1996-97, the company set up a facility to recover iron oxide from the effluent of the beneficiated ilmenite plant and entered into a technical collaboration with International Steel Services Inc. for the manufacture of a similar product. They proposed a Scheme of Arrangement with Crescent Finstock Private Limited expanding their reach and in 2001 the performance of the Soda Ash Division was low - due to high labour strength and excess supply position. The company then took up the Debottlenecking Project and their subsidiary company was also amalgamated in the year 2000. They completed three Carbonation Towers in 2004, increasing the production of soda ash and detergent by 7,000 and 8,000 tonnes respectively.
