The new ‘Secure Skills for Jobs’ program has been launched by the government to provide skilled training and employment opportunities to people in India. This program aims to upskill 8.3 million people in the informal sector by 2022, along with developing their knowledge on the digital and technical skills needed to compete in today's fast-paced environment. It is estimated that 16.7 million job opportunities will be generated in total by this program.The program also provides counseling to individuals who want to transition from traditional to new occupations, enabling them to explore a variety of short-term courses that allow them to work and earn money quickly. Through this program, people in the informal sector will get free training and certification modules of their choice in a wide range of subject areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Digital Marketing, Data Science, Cloud Computing, and Internet of Things. In addition, the program helps those to seek employment in high-growth sectors such as information technology, e-commerce, BFSI, hospitality, logistics, and healthcare. The government also plans to utilize technology platforms to identify job seekers and create job opportunities for them.
