Morgan Stanley was founded in 1913 and is based in Midtown Manhattan in New York City. The firm has offices in more than 42 countries and more than 60,000 workers. Morgan Stanley secured 67th position on the 2018 Fortune 500 list of the top firms in the United States.

Founded in 1837, Morgan Stanley was a financial services company that merged with Dean Witter Discover & Co. in 1997. In 2001, the new company reverted to its previous name of “Morgan Stanley,” with Philip Purcell becoming the new CEO.
Morgan Stanley may trace its origins back to J.P. Morgan & Company. The company publicly opened its doors for business on September 16, 1935. According to the Financial Stability Board, the bank is regarded to be of systemic importance.
