About Vijay Textiles Ltd

Vijay Textiles is an Hyderabad based company founded in 1990 as a private limited company. It became public in 1994, trading polyester yarns and converting them into grey cloth, then into finished fabrics under the 'Vijay' brand name. In 1993, the company ventured into manufacturing of processed textiles with the purchase of a running mill in Khattedan. The capacity was 172 lac mtr per annum (96 lac mtr of printed polyester shirting and 76 lac mtr of dyed polyester shirting). To augment long-term working capital and finance the new equipment, the company went public in 1995 with a premium share price of Rs.80. In 1998-99, the company changed its strategy to produce more high value added goods, and in 1999-2000 the export turnover was Rs.128.16 lakhs with increase in turnover of Rs.4183.88 lakhs. Vijay Textiles also subdivided its equity in 2004 from 3327200 shares of Rs.10 each to 33272000 shares of Re.1 each. The company plans to open three more retail outlets in Andhra Pradesh in the next two years, as well as three franchise stores in the US by October 2005.
