About Vardhman Polytex Ltd

Vardhman Polytex (VPL) was established by Mohta Industries (MIL) and Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation (PSIDC) as Punjab Mohta Polytex in a joint venture. They raised funds through a Rights issue at Rs. 60 and under which Rs. 24.92 crore and 28.48 lakh 13th secured NCDs of Rs. 250, aggregating Rs. 71.21 crore in Jan. 95 to set up a 100 EOU with an installed capacity of 25200 spindles in Punjab, to expand its plants and meet long-term working capital requirements. VPL specializes in producing coarse, medium and fine counts of 100% cotton yarn along with 100% acrylic yarn and tyre cord yarn. Their products are exported to UK, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Taiwan. In 1998-99 VPL expanded the Baddi unit to 19872 spindles, costing them Rs. 41 crore and further upgraded the Bathinda unit with an investment of Rs. 34 crore. In 2001 further expansion resulted in an increase of spindles at a cost of Rs. 2845 Lacs. The total cost was financed partly through internal accruals and term loans from financial institutions and the company is planning on further expanding and enhancing their capacity to 25000 spindles and a dye house at Focal point-Ludhiana.
