About Swaraj Engines Ltd

Swaraj Engines Ltd (SEL) is a Joint Venture between Punjab Tractors Ltd and Kirloskar Engines that produces diesel engines from 15 HorsePower (HP) to 80HP, primarily for fitting into Swaraj tractors manufactured by Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd. Since the company's inception in 1989, over 1.3 million engines have been supplied and it delivered its maiden dividend of 20% in the first year. In 1999 they set up facilities to produce high-tech engine components for Swaraj Mazda vehicles and a Matching Shop for engine manufacturing. In 2006/07 MM and MHFL made an open offer to buy up to 20% of SEL and in 2008, PTL was merged with Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd and their overall stake increased to 64.64%.In 2022, SEL completed their capacity expansion of 150,000 engines per annum.
