About Ruby Mills Ltd

Ruby Mills TRML is one of the oldest manufacturing companies of India, established in 1917. It mainly manufactures textile products in its factories located in Khalapur and Bombay. The operational performance of the company in 199495 was adversely affected due to high commodity prices and a shortage of VSF for 5 months. To facilitate a modernisation plan, the company bought 30 Sulzer looms and replaced 50 Cimmco autolooms and 36 wider Picanol looms. To achieve deeper market penetration, it shifted from wholesale to direct marketing. The government’s permit to import fabrics adversely affected the demand, hence it launched a modernisation programme with the Textile Upgradation Fund Scheme to improve productivity and retain its competitive advantage.
