About Rajapalayam Mills Ltd

Established over six decades ago, Rajapalyam Mills RML is a renowned yarn manufacturer. As part of its export-oriented project, Unitaka Japan provided technological guidance. As part of modernisation and diversification, the company imported five crosrol cards from the UK and set up two ringspinning frames, as well as a tissue culture unit, Shri Ramco Biotech, to produce orchard and ornamental plants. Furthermore, it commissioned its second 100 Export Oriented Unit (EOU) and amalgamated M/s Jayaram Mills Ltd, and expanded Rajapalaiyam Textiles by 3024 spindles at a cost of Rs 5 crores. To reduce energy costs it installed five 250KW wind generators. During 200102 and 200203, the company undertook modernisation programmes at a cost of Rs 24 crores and Rs 15.81 crores respectively under the Technology Upgradation Fund TUF Scheme and added a state-of-the-art textile machinery. It also installed a new textile machine at a cost of Rs 11.30 crores under TUF. This enabled a substantial saving in electricity cost through the commissioning of four 900KW and 770KW MAN BW HFO Gensets.
