About Oil Country Tubular Ltd

Incorporated in 1985, Oil Country Tubular Limited (OCTL) produces a wide range of drill pipes and other tubular goods with a current capacity of 25,000 tonnes per annum (tpa). In May 1992, OCTL came out with a rights issue with a project cost of Rs 88.67 crore, in order to increase its capacity to 50,000 tpa and meet margin money requirements. The company is associated with Baker Hughes Tubular Services US and deals with ONGC and OIL as its main customers. OCTL also holds the API monogram from the American Petroleum Institute US. It successfully executed its first export order for drill pipes worth 774,000 in January 1995. OCTL has also tied up with Grant Prideco Switzerland for services and purchase of their tubular goods. With the Government of India's allotment of 26 blocks for development and exploration in 2000-2001, OCTL expects increased demand for its products in the domestic market and they have already bagged a Rs. 120 crore order from ONGC for supply of drill pipes. Additionally, the company is also executing a 4 million order from Syrian Petroleum Company.
