About Chemplast Sanmar Ltd

Chemplast Sanmar Ltd, formerly known as Chemicals Plastics India earned its current name in 1991 and is a leading speciality chemicals manufacturer focused on speciality paste, PVC resin and custom manufacturing of starting materials and intermediates for pharmaceutical, agrochemical and fine chemical sectors. It is the largest manufacturer of speciality paste PVC resin in the country and third largest manufacturer of caustic soda and largest manufacturer of hydrogen peroxide in South India. The company entered into a joint venture with Bayer Germany for the manufacture of thermoplastics polyuerthane, a joint venture with Cabot Corporation US to manufacture fumed silica, and a project to set up oxychlorination with the capital outlay of over Rs. 60 crores. In 2001, they brought on stream an oxychlorination plant which would reduce their dependence on imports and significantly reduce the environmental impact of its operations. In 2003, Sanmar Properties & Investments Ltd (SPIL) merged with Chemplast Sanmar where SPIL shareholders got 1 Equity Share of Chemplast Sanmar for every share in SPIL.
