Home Depot primarily caters to the home improvement category. Home Depot is one of the leading merchants of home improvement products, such as construction materials, tools, appliances, and services in the United States. The headquarters of Home Depot are in Atlanta, United States. The company was incorporated in February 1978 by Arthur Blank, Pat Farrah, Bernard Marcus, and Ron Brill. The co-founders had the idea to construct home improvement superstores larger than any other company. Home Depot is also known for its impeccable customer service. After commencing with their first two stores in 1979, Home Depot released their initial public offering (IPO) by listing on NASDAQ in September 1981 and eventually raised $4.093. Home Depot began trading on the New York Stock Exchange in April 1984 as ‘HD’ under DJIA, S&P 100, and S&P 500 components. Craig Menear has served as the CEO and Chairman of the company since 2014. The subsidiaries of Interline Brands were also fully integrated into the Home Depot by August 2016. The company has over 500,000 employees serving in 70 distribution centers across the U.S. Home Depot generated annual revenue of $110.2 billion in 2019.
