About Prima Agro Ltd

Prima Agro Ltd is a Cochin-based Industrial Group established on July 20th, 1987 registered with the Companies Act 1956. The enterprise was started by the migrated Gupta family from Rajasthan, headed by Mr. Sajjan Kumar Gupta, a visionary entrepreneur. After family partition, he decided to leverage the abundance of agro-based raw materials in Kerala and neighbouring states, to start animal feed, edible oil, solvent extraction, oil refining and oil packing operations. He also set up a medium-scale beverages business, bottling for the Parle Group. The entry of son Mr. Sanjay Gupta, with post-commerce education, in the early 1990s, along with well-known professionals in tech and finance, plus the Surya Group out of Hyderabad, spurred Prima Agro Ltd’s growth. They went public in 1993, and shares are now listed on various Stock Exchanges in India.
