Lam Research Corporation is one of the American giants in the semiconductor industry. Founded in 1980 by Chinese-born engineer David K. Lam, the company introduced its first product in 1981 viz. the AutoEtch 480, an automated polysilicon plasma etcher. Lam Research Corporation is currently headquartered in Fremont, California, USA. In the Bay Area, Lam Research was the 2nd largest manufacturer only after Tesla as of 2018. Manufacturing facilities of Lam Research are spread across the USA, Austria, and Korea while having sales and service offices in the USA, Asia, and Europe. The company primarily sells its products in the markets of the United States, Europe, and Asia. Its key customers include Intel, Samsung Electronics, Micron Technology, TSMC, SK Hynix, Yangtze Memory Technologies, and Kioxia. Lam Capital Investment Group of the company handles the technology investment fund. Products and Services Following are the key products of Lam Research Corporation: Thin Film Deposition: With nanoscale level uniformity level, integrated circuits are made by laying down the submicroscopic layers of insulating and conducting materials. Plasma Etch: Using the proprietary technology, it involves creating a semiconductor device’s pattern and features by removing the materials selectively from the water surface. Photoresist Strips: The photoresist masks are removed using plasma technology through dry strip systems. Wafer Cleaning involves the removal of films, residues, and particles before and after the processes from the water surface using plasma-based bevel clean products and wet spin clean products.
