Yarn Syndicate, a government-recognised Trading House established in May 46, is amongst the country's largest merchant exporters of cotton yarn and belongs to the PatodiaYSL Group. In 1994, the company proposed to set up a manufacturing facility in Mudalipalayam Periyar district, Tamilnadu, to cater to international buyers with a quality and affordable range of knitted fabrics and dyed yarn. Commercial production in the knitting unit commenced in 199495, however, the dyeing unit was not set up due to local agitations and the authorities' negative sentiment. During the 199798 financial year, the company achieved a turnover of Rs 80.31 crore and was awarded the Gold Trophy for highest exports and Bronze Trophy for export of Cotton Yarn to Non Quota Countries by TEXPROCIL for exports during 199697.
