TCI Industries Ltd. was incorporated in 1958 and later turned into a private limited company in 1965. It eventually moved on to become a public limited company in 1974, promoted by P D Agarwal. S N Agarwal is the current Chairman. The company primarily deals in transport services and aluminium extrusion. In 1989, TCI Industries diversified into car rental services, partnering up with Hertz International US to form the separate division Wheels RentACar. A money changing service was founded as Trans Corp International Bureau De Exchange in 1991-1992. It also formed an agreement with Bhoruka Aluminium for a 3 year period under BIFR rehabilitation scheme in 1993. In May 1994, the company raised 12.71 crores via a public-cum-rights issue of 1.059 lac 15 redeemable preference shares to finance the capital cost of assets, and for meeting long-term working capital requirements. The company's issued and paid up capital is now Rs. 0.50 per equity share of Rs. 10/ each. Furthermore, it has allocated 406109 equity shares on conversion of warrants of Rs.170/ each to promotees and associates of the company. TCI Industries has collaborated with Hertz International, US, and has subsidiaries like Chanderpal Investments, TCI Investments, Bhoruka Textiles, TCI Infrastructure Finance, Gati Corporation and TCI Industries.
