Company Information

Rama Newsprint Papers Ltd, founded in 1994, is the largest private sector player in the Indian Newsprint sector, with an annual manufacturing capacity of 1.5 lakh tonnes of newsprint/writing and printing paper. The SK Bangur Group has a 34.25 per cent stake in the company, helping it to finance its expansion projects via equity funds. The facility in Gujarat has a paper mill and a captive power generation unit, using recycled materials as input. Rama Newsprint can currently meet almost 20 per cent of India's newsprint requirements. The company is adjusting its product mix to Writing and Printing paper as the Newsprint market is not favourable. The promoters and associates are allotted 150 crore equity shares on preference basis, along with ICICI's 3.81 lakh shares. As such, the equity base has reached Rs 232.6 crore.
