Padmalaya Telefilms (PTL) is a Hyderabad-based entertainment and media software company promoted by chairman G S R Krishna Murthy, an actor who has featured in over 315 Telugu films and directed 13. Managing director G Adisesha Giri Rao has 25 years of experience in Film Production for both Hindi and Telugu movies. PTL hit the primary market in year 2000 with its maiden public issue of 2.5 million equity shares of Rs 10 each for cash at a price of Rs 100 aggregating Rs 25 cr. PTL subsidiaries include Padmalaya Studios, Padmalaya Vision, Padmalaya Enterprises and Priyadarshani. The Professional Board of Directors decided to sell the animation division of the company to its US subsidiary in December 2001. Padmalaya Studios is one of the largest studios in Hyderabad and reported a Profit After Tax of Rs 15.97 lakh for the 1999 fiscal. PTL sold the distribution rights of films to Padmalaya Studios for Rs 1.2 cr in 1999-2000. Padmalaya Vision has diversified into IT activities and is registered as an advertising agency with Doordarshan, AI Radio, Press and private channels. PTL has two mega serials to its credit - Jai Veer Hanuman and Buddha; it transferred 20 lakh equity shares to Reliance Capital, 15 lakh to Kothari Pioneer Mutual Fund, 2.5 lakh to Reliance Vision Fund in October 1995 and January 1996. Some ideas at the pre-production stage are British Rule in India, drama to be produced in joint venture with a foreign partner; Dashavthara a 200 episode mythological; Karna a 200 episode mythological; and Swapnasundari a 100 episode folklore serial.
